Adding Calendar Events to Yahoo

For my job I was looking for a way to add events into Yahoo Calendar (among other things) via a standard link. After scouring the interwebs I came across a very good article that explains the different ways for different sites.

The only thing that I could not find was how to stipulate an end date and time. In order to do so you have to add the following attributes:

  • REND – the end date & time. This is represented by the total number of seconds since 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM.
  • RPAT – the duration of between repeats. Here are a few values you can use:
    • Day: 01Dy
    • Week: 01Wk
    • Month: 01Mh
    • Year: 01Yr
    • Mon Wedn Fri: 01MoWeFr
    • Tues Thurs: 01TuTh
    • Mon – Fri: 01MoTuWeThFr
    • Sat – Sun: 01SuSa

You can find more attribute information by playing around with events in Yahoo Calendar. Once created a URL will appear at the bottom of the screen when editing the event. By playing with the options you can figure out what you need in the URL to manually create these URLs.

Hopefully this helps for anyone looking for a way to do this.
